To test these effects, we conducted four studies (total n = 727). First, in Study 1 we examined a moderated mediation model, in which should counterfactual thinking mediates the relation between narcissism and hindsight bias, and this mediation is moderated by prediction accuracy such that the relationship is negative when predictions are accurate and positive when predictions are inaccurate after accurate predictions. Second, in Study 2 we examined a moderated sequential mediation model, in which the relation between narcissism and perceived learning is sequentially mediated through should counterfactual thinking and hindsight bias, and importantly, this sequential mediation is moderated by prediction accuracy. In Study 3 we ruled out could counterfactual thinking as an alternative explanation for the relationship between narcissism and hindsight bias. Finally, by manipulating should counterfactual thinking in Study 4, our findings suggest that this type of thinking has a causal effect on hindsight bias. We discuss why exhibiting some hindsight bias can be positive after failure. We also discuss implications for eliciting should counterfactual thinking. Our results help explain why narcissists may fail to learn from their experiences.}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Howes,Satoris and Kausel,Edgar E and Jackson,A T and Reb,J} } @article {1971561, title = {Examining factors influencing use of a decision aid in personnel selection.}, journal = {Personnel Assessment and Decisions}, volume = {5}, year = {2019}, month = {2019}, pages = {Article 1}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Jackson,A T and Young,M E and Howes,Satoris and Knight,P A and Reichin,S L} } @article {1971576, title = {The reciprocal relationships between escalation, anger, and confidence in investment decisions over time.}, journal = {Frontiers in Psychology}, volume = {9}, year = {2018}, month = {2018}, pages = {Article 1136}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Jackson,A T and Howes,Satoris and Kausel,E E and Young,M E and Loftis,M} } @article {1979121, title = {Decision making: Do people with dark triad traits utilize advice?}, year = {2017}, month = {2017}, address = {Chattanooga, TN}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {McNamara,E D and Jackson,A T and Thiele,A and Stremic,M S and Howes,Satoris and Hein,M and Frame,M C} } @article {1979131, title = {Does goal orientation an outcome certainty predict escalation of commitment?}, year = {2017}, month = {2017}, address = {Dublin, Ireland}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Jackson,A T and Howes,Satoris and Kriegh,J L and Kausel,E E and Campos,N R} } @article {1979136, title = {The impact of escalation decisions on investments, anger, and confidence over time}, year = {2017}, month = {2017}, address = {Dublin, Ireland}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Jackson,A T and Howes,Satoris and Kausel,E E and Young,M E} } @article {1979116, title = {The relationship between goal orientation and escalation of commitment}, year = {2017}, month = {2017}, address = {Vancouver, Canada}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Kriegh,J L and Jackson,A T and Ramirez Campos,N and Thiele,A and Nguyen,T and Dederer,R and McNamara,D and Howes,Satoris and Kausel,E E} } @article {1979181, title = {Emotions and the appraisal-tendency framework: Anger, sadness, and fairness judgments}, year = {2016}, month = {2016}, address = {Anaheim, CA}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Kausel,E E and Howes,Satoris and Spratt,J and Jackson,A T} } @inbook {1971646, title = {Orienting oneself for leadership: The role of goal orientation in leader developmental readiness}, year = {2016}, month = {2016}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Howes,Satoris and Jackson,A T} } @article {1979166, title = {Training against intuition in personnel selection}, year = {2016}, month = {2016}, address = {Denver, CO}, keywords = {Management, OSU-Cascades}, author = {Jackson,A T and Young,M E and Knight,P A and Howes,Satoris} } @article {1979186, title = {Why narcissists dismiss advice?
