Standard 2: Physical, Virtual, and Financial Resources

The school manages its (2.1) physical, (2.2) virtual, and (2.3) financial resources to sustain the school on an ongoing basis and to promote a high-quality environment that fosters success of all participants in support of the school’s mission, strategies, and expected outcomes.

Data Model and Use

  • The Sophos (Betty) underlying data model is built on a flexible architecture that leverages several advanced AI models, including, but not limited to, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini.
  • If you need to reference official Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå standards or accreditation guidance, please always check the most current policies and documents on Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå’s website.
  • Sophos is a generative AI tool and its responses are not created or reviewed by humans. Sophos should not be relied on for official accreditation decisions or as a substitute for Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå’s published standards, policies, or guidance. Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå provides Sophos to assist members in exploring AI use cases and accreditation-related information, but does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of its responses. Like any generative AI tool, Sophos may provide inaccurate or incomplete information. It is your responsibility to verify important details through Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå’s official resources or by consulting directly with Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå staff. By using Sophos, you agree to these Terms of Use.

Does Sophos use my data to train AI?
No. The questions you ask and any text you paste into Sophos are not used to train the underlying AI model. Sophos processes your input in real time to generate a response, but your data does not get fed back into the model. Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå may review anonymized, aggregated usage patterns (for example, the kinds of prompts members are using) to help improve the experience and make Sophos more useful. However, your specific queries, conversations, and pasted content remain private and are not used for model training.

Determine if Physical Space is Used Optimally
Use Case
Data Needed
Prompt
AI flags underutilized rooms that could be repurposed or identifies areas where additional resources (e.g., seating, equipment) are needed
AI can analyze data from smart sensors and IoT devices embedded in classrooms, study areas, and labs to assess the utilization of physical spaces. It can track occupancy, class sizes, and the usage of learning resources (e.g., whiteboards, projectors, computers). Alternatively, AI can analyze data on classroom capacities and semester-by-semester enrollments at the classroom level.
Using the data provided on classroom capacities and actual enrollments in those classrooms for the semesters [Spring 2023—Summer 2023—Fall 2023—Spring 2024], generate a report showing classrooms that are being used optimally and those that are underutilized.
Learning environment personalization: create spaces with optimized lighting, seating, and technology tools to support diverse learning needs
Student performance data under various seating arrangements, specific classroom layouts, and teaching styles (e.g., collaborative learning, group discussions)
Using the data provided on student performance, classroom seating arrangements, and teaching style, suggest ways in which classroom configurations can be optimized to enhance learning.
Virtual Learning Environment Optimization
Use Case
Data Needed
Prompt
Determine if online resources (LMS, online classrooms, virtual labs) have high drop-out rates or low usage rates which may indicate hardware or bandwidth limitations
Usage logs and analytics generated from LMS, student performance data
Using the data provided at the course-section level about student participation and engagement in the university’s LMS, and student performance data, provide an analysis of potential correlations between patterns of LMS use and student performance. Identify specific opportunities for improvement.
Student sentiment analysis
Regular surveys of student satisfaction with virtual learning experience. Data collected over multiple semesters and including indicators of course type (discipline – ACG/FIN/MKT/IS/MAN and level – UG or G) would permit a richer analysis.
Analyze the provided student survey data regarding their experience with the virtual learning environment [LMS] and identify the themes emerging from the surveys. Analyze the data in terms of trends over time [if data are provided for multiple semesters] and patterns across course types or levels [if such data are collected]. Generate specific recommendations for improvement.
Analyze Financial Investments in Technology-Enhanced Spaces
Use Case
Data Needed
Prompt
Analyze technology budget of the past 5 years
Budgets that show technology investments over past 5 years, compared with investment in physical space over past 5 years, along with data on student enrollments by year.
Using the provided data on IT budgets, infrastructure budgets, and student enrollments for the 5 year period, analyze and critique the level of IT investments at the institution.
Predictive analysis of future needed investments
Same as previous, coupled with student sentiment analysis and narrative or other documents that describe the school’s current financial situation
Using the data provided on student sentiment analysis and the narrative description (or tabulated spreadsheet) file indicating the school’s current financial situation, analyze the data and generate specific recommendations for where additional investments need to be made.
