The seminar will be held at the College of Economics and Management, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. It will begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m.

Ensure your school is making a difference through its research and thought leadership.  Focus on the research that matters to your mission through interactive sessions, breakout discussions, and best practices. In a cohort of your peers, you will discover models for generating impactful research, how to measure impact, and the expectations of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå’s standard 8. A special focus on societal impact will be shared, including how to identify and incorporate societal-impact-focused research at your school.

Trends, examples, and specific cases will be shared and discussed in this seminar. Engage with your peers to identify and outline challenges and strategies to overcome them in the areas of research and thought leadership impact in this interactive event. 

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Have a deep understanding of the 2020 Standards requirements for thought leadership and research impact
  2. Understand the importance of thought leadership for a business school and how to align this with their mission
  3. Recognize the relevance and significance of impact in business school research, how it can be measured and the implications for a business school of including a focus on societal impact in its research
  4. Know how to develop a model for societal impact research that ensures alignment with the mission of the school
  5. Reflect on and evaluate the progress their school is making in the areas of thought leadership and research impact 

Facilitators

Geoff Perry, Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå International

Geoff Perry is executive vice president overseeing global membership. With senior management experience in the university sector, having served as business school dean, pro vice chancellor, and deputy vice chancellor at Auckland University of Technology—a 28,000 student, research-intensive university—he has strong strategic, financial, and people management capabilities. He has mentored, advised, and evaluated many higher education business schools across the Asia Pacific region and North America. Recently he co-chaired the Business Accreditation Task Force, which was mandated by Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå’s board of directors to work with the association’s community to develop the 2020 business accreditation standards. Perry has a significant portfolio of peer-reviewed journal articles, commissioned reports, and presentations. He has academic and private sector experience and has worked, consulted, and researched in his home country of New Zealand as well as more broadly in the Asia Pacific region. Perry holds degrees in the arts and the humanities and has a PhD in economics with a focus on labor and international economics.
