If accepted, you will be admittedÌýfor the followingÌýterm to begin courses the following academic year.Ìý For example, if you apply in spring 2025, you would be admitted to the studio program as ofÌýsummer 2025 and begin studio specific coursework in fall 2025.Ìý More details on timeline and courses below.

Majors and GPA CriteriaÌý
Admission is competitive, meeting or exceeding the Eligibility AID GPA or Competitive AID GPA does not guarantee admission to a Professional Studio Program.Ìý If you have two programs which are of interest to you, you may apply to a first and second choice. If you are accepted into both programs then you will be placed into your first choiceÌýor, if you plan to pursue two, you can apply to two and potentially be accepted into both.Ìý

AID GPA:ÌýThe AID GPA is your All-Inclusive DesignÌýGPA. It consists of grades from all the Design Program Coursework including those taken at OSU and transfer institutions.
Eligibility AID GPA:ÌýÌýTo be eligible to apply to a major, students must have an AID that is equal to or higher than the Eligibility AID GPA.Ìý
Competitive AID GPA:ÌýThis is the minimum AID GPA needed in order to be competitive when applying for a given major.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to apply to a Professional Studio Program, you must:

be a current OSU Design major in Pre-Apparel Design and/or Pre-Interior Design (application must match declared program).

reach 90 credits by the end of the application term (junior standing).

have completed or are registered to complete in the current/application term the following courses:

DSGN 101 (will be waived for students declared as a pre-major by spring 2024 who apply and are admitted spring 2025 for the fall 2025 cohort)

have grades of C- or better in all Design Degree Program Coursework, which includes all lower-division Design Core, upper-division DesignÌýCore, and major specific courses that are required to earn a specific design degree as well as all elective courses taken within the college curriculum (both transfer and OSU grades).

If you have a grade that is lower than a C- inÌýDesignÌýDegree Program Coursework, you must be enrolled to retake this courseÌýto be eligible to apply. Note: your AID in MyDegrees may no longer include the grade you are replacingÌýbut it will be counted in your application.Ìý Please see a COB advisor for help calculating your GPA.

If you currently have an Incomplete with a D, D-, F, or N predicted grade, your grade must be updated to complete (with a C- or better) prior to the application deadline to be eligibleÌýorÌýyou must be enrolled to retake the course.

You can only submit one application per application period. ÌýIf you resubmit your application in a given application period, the most recent submission will be used.

Sewing sample: The sewing project should include pictures and a paragraph describing what the sample is, why you chose to sewÌýit, what you learned while working on the project, and details regarding your past sewing experience.

Essay question:ÌýIf you plan to pursue a major which has a competitive GPA listed in the chart above, you will be asked to address the following essay question:ÌýDescribe your overall career objectives and how completion of your selected major will help you achieve those objectives. ÌýAnswers are limited 1000 characters and will be cut off if they exceed the limit. ÌýIt is recommended that you compose your answers to theÌýessay in a separate Word document and copy and paste the responses into the application form.ÌýRemember to check your grammar and spelling.

You must register for the required fallÌýstudio classes (listed below) by August 15. If you are unable to register (ex: account hold) for your required courses by August 15, please contact a COB advisor for assistance.Ìý

If you are not registered or in contact with an advisor by AugustÌý15, your seat will be given to another student.Ìý As such, you will be unable to start your sequence the next term after admission and will need to reapply in the next application review.

If you are unable to complete the first term of coursework in your sequence, you will need to reapply in the next application review.Ìý This includes withdrawing from the course/s.

CONTINUING STUDENTS:

You must successfully complete all required studio-specific coursesÌýlisted below in the designated term after your admission.Ìý If you are unsuccessful in your attempt of a course listed below, please see a COB advisor immediately to discuss plans and a petition to continue in the program.
